Our mission:
Chronic diseases include Atherosclerosis, Alzheimer´s Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Cancer. These diseases cause unparalleled human suffering and despair while treatment options remain poor or severely limited. As our society ages, health care costs outpace economic growth.
During the last decade it became apparent that far-reaching and innovative concepts are urgently needed. We focus on interactions between the nervous system, the cardiovascular system and the immune system . As all cells age, all three systemic elements lose fundamental abilities such as the ability to respond to injury, to properly organize interaction between cells and organs, and many more. As a result, aging-related diseases develop at a dramatically higher clip when compared to young organisms.
Our ambition is to functionally delineate these interactions by studying neuro-immune-cardiovascular interfaces (“NICIs”) in a multilateral approach. Through understanding NICIs, as checkpoints in aging, Easemedcontrol aims at fighting detrimental and pain-associated diseases. More specifically, we found that intervention into NICIs attenuates cardiovascular and Alzheimer’s Disease in mice. We believe this will have major implications for research and therapies in humans. Some selected discoveries are reported in Nature Medicine, January 2019. Our mission to uncover the root causes of disease will also accelerate the development of radically new diagnostic solutions in the future.
